First Marriage Lasted Only for Four Days, Met Rahul After That; New Details From Survivor's Statement

Thiruvananthapuram: New details have emerged from the statement given by the woman who has accused Congress MLA Rahul Mamkoottathil of sexual aasault and forced abortion. According to the satement, she lived with her fisrt husband for only four days, ending the relationship within a month, and met Rahul after that.


The woman reportedly told the police that their marriage took place on August 22, 2024, at a temple. Although the ceremony was performed according to rituals, according to the young woman, it was not registered with the temple authorities or any official body.


Meanwhile, Rahul Mamkoottathil has admitted that the audio clips containing conversations and alleged threats towards the woman were indeed his own. This admission was made in his anticipatory bail application, according to reports.


UDF Leaders Criticised for Remarks Against Survivor


UDF leaders including convenor Adoor Prakash MP have been criticised for derogatory comments toward the survivor. Adoor Prakash alleged that the case was part of a “script” and claimed that the woman going to the Chief Minister’s residence was politically motivated. According to him, similar accusations were raised during previous elections when he contested from Konni and Attingal. He stated that the case was fabricated and that Congress leadership would decide on whether Rahul should resign.


Congress Mouthpiece Defends Mamkoottathil


The Congress party’s official newspaper Veekshanam has published an editorial strongly defending Rahul Mamkoottathil, who has reportedly been absconding. The editorial argues that Rahul is the victim of a political conspiracy.
