Malayali’s beloved Mammukka turns 74

Thiruvananthapuram: Malayalam cinema icon Mammootty celebrated his 74th birthday on Sunday, receiving warm wishes from fans, colleagues, and politicians alike.

For his ardent admirers, the occasion was especially joyous as the legendary actor recently recovered from a brief illness and is now gearing up for a much-anticipated comeback with the movie Kalamkaval.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan shared a photo of Mammootty on his social media, wishing him good health and a long life. "Warm birthday wishes to @mammukka. As an artist and cultural icon, he holds a special place in our hearts. Wishing him good health and long life to continue enthralling us with his stellar performances," he wrote on X.





Mammootty himself thanked fans with a photo on Instagram, captioned: "Love and Thanks to All and The Almighty." The post quickly went viral, with fans flooding social media with heartfelt birthday greetings.

Actors Nivin Pauly and Manju Warrier were among those who extended warm wishes to the megastar, affectionately known as "Mammukka" by his admirers.

The pan-Indian star has maintained his mega-star status across decades, with over 400 films in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi, and English. His illustrious career, spanning more than five decades, has earned him three National Awards, seven State Awards, 14 Filmfare Awards, a Padma Shri, and two honorary doctorates. Mammootty made his cinematic debut in 1971 with Anubhavangal Palichakal.
