For nearly 60 days, the Gaza Strip has been under a devastating blockade imposed by Israel, cutting off all food, medicine, and supplies. Aid groups are running out of resources, and the markets are nearly empty. Palestinian families, struggling to survive, are forced to live off meager rations of canned vegetables, rice, and lentils, while meat, milk, and fruit have all but disappeared. Bread and eggs are scarce, and the little available food is far beyond the means of most. In the makeshift tent camps of Khan Younis, Mariam al-Najjar and her family can barely feed themselves. On a Friday, a day traditionally reserved for large family meals, they eat a simple dish of peas, rice, and spices. "We never ate canned peas before the war,' Mariam reflects, "only in this war that has destroyed our lives."

Malnutrition is rapidly spreading, particularly among children. Doctors report alarming rates of malnutrition, with children suffering long-term health damage from a lack of essential nutrients. "Children need the food pyramid for their development,' says Dr. Ayman Abu Teir, as the lack of meat, dairy, and fruits takes a devastating toll. In Khan Younis, markets are all but empty. Tomatoes, once cheap and abundant, now cost nearly 14 dollar per kilo. The only remaining vegetables are those grown in Gaza, but Israeli military actions have destroyed most of the region's farms and greenhouses, leaving the remaining crops insufficient to feed the population.

The situation has forced people to rely on charity kitchens, like the Rafah Charity Kitchen, where workers hand out basic meals of lentils, rice, and pasta. But even these kitchens are running out of food. "If this kitchen closes, these people will starve,' says Hani Abu Qasim, as the looming threat of hunger grows ever closer. The people of Gaza are in a desperate battle for survival. Their once -thriving communities are now reduced to rubble, and the blockade shows no sign of easing. As the world watches, families are left to endure unimaginable suffering, with no end in sight.
